Michael Doser is a particle physicist working at CERN. He has been working with antimatter since 1983, using it both as a tool and as an object of study, with the goal of understanding the first moments of the Universe. In 2002, he was part of the team that made cold atoms of antihydrogen for the first time, and – after bringing together its international and interdisciplinary team – currently leads the AEGIS experiment that will measure how antimatter falls.

TEDx presentation sur l’anti-matière……Très intéressé mais aurai voulu comprendre quel portée pour l’humanité de prouver l’existence ? Quelles applications ? Merci d’avoir réussi à transmettre un sujet aussi complexe, en si peu de temps et à captiver une audience dont les connaissances en la matière paraissaient relativement faibles…….y compris moi-même – Antoine NAVA – Genève

J’ai hesite de parler d’applications, puisque le temps etait tres court, mais il y en a deux.
Une est tres connue; c’est la tomographie a emission de positons (PET scan), qui introduit des radioisotopes dans le sang, et detecte les poistons qui sont produits lors de sa desintegration ulterieure.
L’autre est beaucoup moins avancee: il y a actuellement une experience (ACE, aussi connue sous le nom de AD-4, au CERN) qui teste l’efficacite des antiprotons dans la radiotherapie, actuellement sur des cellules de hamster dans des eprouvettes, avec des resultats tres encouragants.
