My favorite TED was this one: Helen Fisher tells us why we love + cheat... I found it just perfect and really surprising when we don't know so many things about feelings like love... is so surprising because people usually look at those things as given... and then the academic curiosity can come to something like this is just really great

Hi, Claude

I was surfing the web this afternoon for friends, classmates and fraternity brothers, and came across this one while searching for you.

WOW!!! What you are doing and have done with your life is very impressive. As Phyllis and I watched we were more and more enthused with you. I know exactly what you were talking about when you mentioned how working with young people keep you young. I have had the opportunity to do so on a much smaller scale giving sales training classes for a local restaurant's staff and working with a few college students who are business majors with starting a business. But that in no way compares with the importance of what you have been doing.
We moved to Maine five years ago. My business went broke, my parents had both died, so there was little to keep me in Orange County. We vacationed in Maine almost every summer. We are living in a very lovely retirement community.

Please let me know how you and Sabrina are doing.

Dear Mr. Marshall.
I know I am a bit late to response, but really enjoyed your talk. Information about the living conditions of the worlds over 42 million people living as refugees or IDPs don't reach most people in the world. Talks like this puts a the person, the child, in to the stats and numbers.
I have been working with refugees and IDPs in addition to general populations affected by conflict and disasters for some year, and felt that your talk hit the nail perfectly.
Many of the refugee children and youth have access to life's hardware (education, food, shelter and health care), but lack access to software needed to both develop normally as a child, and like you say heal wounds from stress and trauma.
Sport, art, music and drama are by many considered non-essetial responses as the funds for emergencies and refugees are limited. I hope you are able to continue to convince people differently.
Best
Pelle

How to use Social Media for Social Change is a very important topic for non-profit organizations like ours at Ninos del Lago, a small grassroots non-profit with very limited funds for marketing and fundraising campaigns. I would appreciate to hear more about non-profits who are building awareness and support through campaigns on a shoe-string budget. Keep up the great work TED!

Well if you are ever in town Paul. I'll take you for a few brews. Thanks for helping the Haitians. Tis a pity the USA doesn't do more in the country. Maybe they should just have sent in the marines and annexed country at least temporarily!
Well merry Xmas to you and your family and a happy new year!
Best

Hey Claude, We missed you at the 60th Reunion, but heard about all the great things you've been doing. Can't believe we've been out of school 60 years. The time certainly has gone by fast. There's not much new in Middletown. Carol and I have been in the Albany, NY area for over 50 years now. Now, I'm going to go and view your videos and find out more about your work. Emil

Louis,

Your point that it's time to show the world solutions is well made.

It is time for us all to stop doing studies and research when we already know how to use batteries and electric motors and solar cells. It is time to use our knowledge.

Now.

Why not show the trailer with its 6 suare meters of photovoltaic panels?

Why is there no trailer category (for solar cars and bikes) at the trans-australian solar race?

Is it because it might inspire aircraft builders to design an aircraft trailing a flexcell ribbon... to outfly Piccard's Solar Impulse?

Please note that I had proposed a single-wheel bike trailer with 1 square meter of photovoltaic panels (2 m long) on its cover for the Swiss national exibition Expo 02 as early as 2001.

Louis Palmer is totally unknown by the Swiss public, his solartaxi might as well have been sabotaged by the energy lobbies.

I wish Piccard a good and safe flight!

And Louis Palmer a Nobel prize!

Mmm, I also like Hans Rosling, but would like engaging with what Richard Dawkins, Ken Robinson, Lee Smolin and Dan Ariely have to say.
One of the most important idea I found on TED is given by Peter Donnelly. People have a very poor understanding of stats, when they actually are everywhere nowadays. This then would link to the short call by Arthur Benjamin.

If I were to choose a couple I guess i'd select the first Hans Rosling talk, as well as the Jeff Han multitouch demo, which was just mind-blowing this being before any manufacturer had implemented (or at least publicly) this tech in anything...
